Visa pathways
Non-Lucrative Visa (NLV)
Live in Spain without working — ideal for retirees and those with passive income.
- No work permitted in Spain (not even self-employed)
- Prove means of ~400% IPREM (≈ €2,400/month, €28,800/year for 2026)
- Private Spanish health insurance with no co-pays
- Clean criminal record (last 5 years)
- Initial permit 1 year, renewable for 2 years
Digital Nomad Visa
Work remotely from Spain for non-Spanish clients or employers.
- Remote work using telematics/telecoms only
- If freelance: max 20% of income from Spanish clients
- Employer must authorise remote work and have operated ≥ 1 year
- Degree, professional certificate, or 3+ years' relevant experience
- Income ≈ 200% SMI (≈ €2,849/month for 2026; more for dependants)
Investor Visa (Ley 14/2013)
Residence through qualifying investment in Spain (not property).
- Property/real-estate route ended April 2025
- Qualifying routes: shares, public debt (€2m+), bank deposit (€1m+), business project
- Prove financial means of 400% IPREM for living costs
- Clean criminal record (last 5 years)
- Initial permit 3 years (was 1 for older Golden Visa), renewable for 5

Retirement in Spain (via NLV)
Retire to Spain on a Non-Lucrative Visa using pension income.
- Uses the Non-Lucrative Visa application route
- Prove pension / annuity income meets 400% IPREM
- Bank statements (last 3 months) + latest tax return
- Private Spanish health insurance with no co-pays
- No work permitted; no notarised 'no work' affidavit needed if past working age
