If you are robbed

Make sure you are safe first. If threatened, do not resist — your safety matters more than belongings.

Call 091 (Policía Nacional) for theft or robbery. For a medical emergency, call 061 or 112.

File a report (denuncia) with the Policía Nacional — many insurers and embassies require a police report. You can do this at a comisaría or online at denuncias.policia.es if no violence was involved.

Cancel any stolen bank cards immediately and note the police report reference.

If you have an accident

Call 112 — they coordinate ambulance, fire and police. For medical only, dial 061.

If you have European public healthcare cover, show your EHIC or the replacement GHIC / SIP card.

For a traffic accident, move to a safe place, exchange insurance details and take photos. If there are injuries, you must call 112 and notify the Guardia Civil (062).

Keep copies of any paperwork — hospitals, insurers and your embassy may ask for them.
