Tickets To Taylor Swift’s Melbourne Concerts Are Being Sold By Scalpers For As Much As $2210 Each

Tickets to see Taylor Swift in Melbourne are being sold by scalpers for astronomical prices – with some being marked up a whopping 400 per cent.

Scalper inspectors in Victoria have already busted the illegal sale of more than 1000 seats to the Shake It off singer’s Eras shows in February, the Herald Sun reports.

Tickets initially bought for $379 were being sold online for a whopping $2210, $2065 and $1860 each in what is being called a ‘surge in scalpers’.

‘Event organisers will only accept authorised tickets on the night,’ Major Events representative Steve Dimopoulos warned this week.

So far authorities have cancelled at least 1090 illegal ticket listings.

They have been appearing on a multitude of sites, including eBay, Gumtree and Stubhub.

In Victoria, selling tickets to major events for more than 10 per cent over the face value is illegal with fines as high as $576,930 for companies who breach the law.

Fines of up to $962 also apply to individuals who breach these conditions.

Taylor announced a third Melbourne show at the MCG on February 18 next year and a fourth Sydney concert at Accor Stadium on February 26 as part of The Eras Tour.

She will become the first artist since Madonna to perform three consecutive concerts at the Melbourne Cricket Ground when she takes the stage in February next year, and the first ever to play a fourth straight show at Sydney’s Accor Stadium.

The new gigs are in addition to the existing Melbourne concerts on February 16, 17 and 18 and Sydney shows on February 23, 24, 25 and 26.

Meanwhile Taylor has continued to dominate the Australian music charts.

1989 (Taylor’s Version) held the number one spot on the ARIA Albums Chart for the eight consecutive weeks late last year.
