The LVMH Group has long supported equal opportunity initiatives in the greater Paris conurbation of Seine-Saint-Denis, including sponsoring the Monterfmeil Cultures and Creation Fashion Show for the past 12 years.
This year’s show featured over 300 designers and models – all non-professionals – and drew 1,000 people eager to discover the creativity and diversity of the department. The event gives young creative talents a chance to engage with the world of fashion and see their work discovered.
This year’s prize for “CSR Young Talent” went to Jagoda Sokolowska, while the “Jeune Espoir” prize was awarded to Louna Guitton, both fashion school students. The jury comprised Isabelle Faggianelli, Christian Dior Couture VP Social Responsibility, Maurizio Liotti, Christian Dior Couture Ready-to-wear Manufacturing Director, Cécile Lochard, Director of Sustainable Development at Guerlain, and Olivier Théophile, LVMH Corporate Social Responsibility Director.
From our partners:
The LVMH Group will help the winners launch their careers by proposing an internship or work/study contract at one of its couture ateliers, mentoring from a fashion professional or participation in a professional fashion show.
This year also introduced a new Beauty Care prize awarded by Guerlain for a young talent with a passion for beauty and a desire to discover the métier of makeup artist.
Ahead of the runway show, several contributed support for this annual event. The budding designers received advice from artisans during “couture master classes” organized by Kenzo and Louis Vuitton, and Berluti, Christian Dior Couture and Louis Vuitton all donated fabrics or stockman mannequins. Actress Sonia Rolland showed the amateur models how to walk the runway with an assured presence, helping boost their confidence. For those interested in going further and possibly joining the world of fashion, managers from the LVMH Métiers d’Excellence program presented the different work/study courses proposed by the Institut des Métiers d’Excellence. Lastly, for their runway début, the models were made up by Guerlain makeup artists.
Through this initiative LVMH both encourages tomorrow’s talents and supports inclusive creativity. Several young participants have already moved forward on their path to careers in the fashion industry.
