From 22 September 2021 onwards, the Louvre’s workshops and training sessions will be held in the Studio, a brand new 1,200 square-metre space on Level -1 of the Richelieu wing, near the Petite Galerie and the permanent collections.
Visitors can learn more about the museum’s artworks and develop their own artistic skills by choosing from the wide range of activities on offer in the Forum reception and activity area or in the workshop rooms. The activities cater for everyone – families, school groups, students and professionals of all ages, disabled and disadvantaged visitors – and are included in the museum admission ticket.

One Studio, two spaces
The space designed by the architects of the h2o (Paris) agency is modern, elegant and functional.
Located opposite the Petite Galerie, the Studio has a Forum and nine rooms for workshops and training sessions. There is also a special area designed with families in mind, with toilets, a baby care area and other amenities. The opening of the Studio has tripled the surface area dedicated to workshops and training.

Visitors to the Forum will enjoy free 20-minute workshops (no booking required) or use the materials provided to the public such as drawing supplies, board games and a reading corner.
Until 20 October 2021, the programme will spotlight the new exhibition in the Petite Galerie, ‘From Afar: Travelling Materials and Objects’. The activities of the museum’s expert craftworkers, such as framers, gilders, painters and metalworkers, will also be presented in the Forum.

The second part of the Studio contains nine rooms for training sessions and free, pre-booked, 2-3 hour workshops. The varied and stimulating workshop programmes, catering for individuals and groups of all ages, will be changed every 3 months.
The Louvre, an accredited training organisation, will also offer a variety of training programmes in art history, cultural interpretation and project management. Throughout the year, events will be organised in collaboration with the museum’s partners, including schools, community centres and hospitals.
