Savannah James, the wife of Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, had a noticeable absence on her arm while attending the 2025 Met Gala.
Just hours before the event began, LeBron, 40, revealed he was not going to be able to attend fashion’s biggest night after being named an honorary co-chair.
“Unfortunately because of my knee injury I sustained at the end of the season I won’t be able to attend the Met Gala in NY tonight as so many people have been asking and congratulating me on!” LeBron wrote via X on Monday, May 5. “Hate to miss an historical event! My beautiful powerful Queen will be there holding the castle down as she always has done! .”

LeBron finished the game despite the injury. According to ESPN, the recovery time for the MCL sprain is typically three-to-five weeks.
After the Game 5 loss, LeBron got candid about the uncertainty surrounding his basketball future.
When asked about how much longer he envisions himself playing after the team’s Game 5 loss, James said, “I don’t know.”

“I don’t have an answer to that,” he told reporters. “Something I’ll sit down with my family, my wife and my support group and kind of just talk through it and see what happens. And just have a conversation with myself on how long I want to continue to play. I don’t know the answer to that right now, to be honest. So we’ll see.”
When asked what he thinks the Lakers need to improve in the offseason, James was similarly ominous.
”It’s a business,” he said. “So you don’t know what the roster will look like next year besides the guys that [are] locked into contracts. S***, I got a lot to think about myself. So I don’t know what the roster will look like. I don’t know where I stand right now.”
Look Back at Met Gala Co-Chairs Who Set the Tone on Fashion’s Biggest Night
LeBron and Savannah married in September 2013 and share sons Bronny, 20, and Bryce, 17, and daughter Zhuri, 10.
In October 2024, LeBron and Bronny became the first father-son duo to play in the NBA together after the Lakers drafted Bronny in the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft.
Savannah gushed about the big moment during an October 2024 appearance on the Tamron Hall Show.
“First of all, [I was] extremely proud,” Savannah said. “I honestly didn’t know how I would feel once I saw them on the court together. I’m like, ‘I see them in the driveway all the time. It’s not a big deal.’ But understanding the moment and the history and how special it was, it was a really amazing feeling.”
