It is a truth universally acknowledged that no one can read a look like a drag queen. In that spirit, Us Weekly asked top four contestants from RuPaul’s Drag Race season 17 to rate Met Gala looks of years past with a toot or boot.
Ahead of the finale (during which Onya Nurve was crowned America’s Next Drag Superstar), Onya, Lexi Love, Jewels Sparkles and Sam Star stopped by the Us studio to share their thoughts on outfits worn by celebs including Madonna, Rihanna and, of course, RuPaul.
The ladies also revealed their favorite guest judges of season 17, including one who’s styled plenty of Met Gala looks himself: Law Roach.

“My dad is in love with new stepmom, Law Roach,” Onya joked, referring to the makeover episode where Roach, 46, flirted with Onya’s dad, Andre (a.k.a. Nunya Bidness). “I’m so excited to see where that relationship goes. I’m in New York now, so you never know. Me and Law Roach might be getting lunch later. He might be my new stylist one day, but this is my stepmom so it won’t cost that much.”
The queens went on to name Tracee Ellis Ross, Hunter Schafer, Adam Lambert and Quinta Brunson as more faves, giving Brunson an extra toot for her effort to speak to everyone.
“She was one of the few judges who came back into Untucked after the Snatch Game and she was giving all the girls critiques on their stuff,” Jewels told Us. “But not critiques. It was more like, ‘You did amazing in this, this is what I loved about your performance.’ Making everyone feel part of it.”
