News that Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice and husband Luis “Louie” Ruelas might be facing tax debt rocked the Bravo universe with multiple stars speaking out.
It was widely reported in March 2025 that Teresa and Louie — who wed in August 2022 — received more than $3 million in tax liens. According to the IRS, this is “the government’s legal claim against your property when you neglect or fail to pay a tax debt.”
Per court documents obtained by People at the time, Teresa owes $303,889.20 while Louie has to pay back nearly $2.6 million. The publication also reported that Louie had been issued a tax lien for $163,523.94 in December 2024.

Teresa’s eldest daughter Gia shared an update on her mom and stepfather during a March 2025 episode of her “Casual Chaos” podcast.
“My mom has everything under control, and there’s nothing to worry about,” she said. “My stepdad, Luis, is the most amazing stepfather. He treats my sisters and I like we are his own. He is also working on getting everything resolved as well. But there’s nothing to worry about. Everything’s going to be fine. But thank you for your concern.”
