Gia Giudice Addresses Her Decision to Publicly Fire Back at Bethenny Frankel

Gia Giudice is weighing in on her decision to clap back at Bethenny Frankel.

“At the end of the day, I’m protecting my younger siblings. I’m not protecting myself. I know I’m an adult, but there’s just always a misconnotation,” Giudice, 24, exclusively said at Us Weekly + Maidenform’s Reality Star Style Awards party on Tuesday, April 22, at The Highlight Room in NYC. “Things are always obviously being very blown out of proportion because we are in the public eye.”

Giudice went on to explain that her younger siblings “don’t need to open TikTok to see that.” (Teresa Giudice and ex-husband Joe Giudice share Gia as well as daughters Gabriella, 20, Milania, 19, and Audriana, 15.)

“It was just that motherly instinct in me coming out,” Gia explained. “And that’s really all that it was.”

Gia Giudice Reacts to Bethenny Frankel’s Comments About Mom Teresa

The drama began when Frankel, an original cast member on The Real Housewives of New York City, took to social media to weigh in on the news that Teresa was hit with approximately $3 million in tax liens by the IRS. (Court documents allegedly show Teresa owes the government $303,889.20 while her husband, Luis Ruelas, owes nearly $2.6 million.)

“OMG no say this is not so,” Frankel captioned an Instagram reel, while pointing to similarities to what Teresa and her first husband experienced after filing for bankruptcy in 2009 after claiming they were $11 million in debt. (Teresa and Joe were indicted on 39 counts in 2014, including bankruptcy fraud. Teresa served 11 months of a 15-month sentence while Joe served a 14-month sentence and was deported to Italy.)

“I can not believe that Teresa is in another marriage with financial, legal issues,” Frankel said in the video. “I’ll have to pull when I tweeted ‘If Teresa Giudice does not sign a prenup I will jump through my phone.’”

“You’re watching the movie and you’re like ‘No! Do not open that closet!’ I feel terrible but like fool me once, you’re a fool. Fool me twice, I’m a fool,” she continued. “Love is blind, [and] all these things but oh my God.”

Breaking Down the Unexpected Feud Between Gia Giudice and Bethenny Frankel

Gia, for her part, addressed the reports on a March episode of her “Casual Chaos” podcast. “My mom has been the sole provider for my sisters and I since the minute my father left for prison,” Gia said. “The second my mom got home from jail, she has been working her ass off to make sure that my sisters and I live a stable life and that my family is financially stable. My mom has everything under control, and there’s nothing to worry about.”

Gia went on to direct a message to Frankel. “Bethenny Frankel, thank you so much for your sweet video. You are a mother with a daughter. I bet you wouldn’t like [it] if somebody was saying this about you,” Gia said. “I hope that $1,000 TikTok paycheck was really worth it. And thanks. But we’re doing perfectly fine over here.”
