The Cast of ‘Holes’: Where Are They Now? Shia LaBeouf and More

More than 20 years since its release, Holes remains one of Disney’s most star-studded films to date.

The 2003 movie, based on the 1998 novel of the same name by Louis Sachar, stars Shia LaBeouf as Stanley Yelnats IV, a boy whose string of familial bad luck lands him serving a months-long sentence at the juvenile detention facility Camp Green Lake. As the film’s title suggests, the camp’s inmates are made to dig holes in the dried-up lake every day, all while avoiding creepy venomous, yellow-spotted lizards.

While forming a friendship with younger inmate Hector “Zero” Zeroni (Khleo Thomas), Stanley uncovers secrets about his family’s history and sets off with Zero to break his bad luck “curse” and find the secret hiding spot of a treasure belonging to one of his ancestors.

The film’s supporting cast was full of several Hollywood heavyweights, including Sigourney Weaver as Warden Louise Walker, Jon Voight as Mr. Sir, Tim Blake Nelson as Dr. Steve Pendanski, Patricia Arquette as Miss Katherine “Kissin’ Kate” Barlow and more.

In January 2025, it was announced the movie would be getting a gender-swapped TV adaptation on Disney+. “In this reimagining of the beloved 1998 book from Louis Sachar, a teenage girl is sent to a detention camp where the ruthless Warden forces the campers to dig holes for a mysterious purpose,” the show’s logline reads, per Variety.
