Glen Powell’s mom, Cyndy Powell, has entered the chat regarding romance rumors surrounding her son and Sydney Sweeney.
“They’re definitely not together,” Cyndy told the Daily Mail Monday, March 31, confirming that Sweeney, 27, attended her daughter Leslie Powell’s wedding in Texas “with her friend.”
Sweeney is “really close friends” with Glen, 36, and their entire family, Cyndy further explained. She also called the romance rumors “silly” while soaking with the Daily Mail.

“We love Sydney. We’ve considered her just a really, really good friend. We all were together so much, and we haven’t seen her in a long time,” she said. “She’s really a friend and we all enjoy her.”

Cyndy added that ”there is “nothing going on behind closed doors,” before praising her only son. (Cyndy and husband Glen Powell Sr. share Glen and Leslie along with Lauren Powell.)
“He’s the kindest person and he is so others-oriented. He loves his family, he loves his friends. And Sydney is a friend,” Cyndy said of Glen. “They’ve been friends for so long. They’ve known each other for so long and they’ve both been single and together and with other people.”
Romance rumors between Sweeney and Glen first started while they were filming their 2023 rom-com, Anyone But You. Sweeney was engaged to Jonathan Davino at the time, and the actors shut down any speculation that they were romantically involved. More recently, Sweeney and Glen were spotted together at Leslie’s wedding. The photos came shortly after Us Weekly confirmed that Sweeney and Davino had called off their wedding and split.
“They could have made anything happen that they wanted to at any point,” Cyndy continued of Sweeney and Glen. “But he’s got so many friends that care about him and he cares about, and he’s got a really nice group of friends that they kind of take care of each other. It’s really nice.”

When asked if she would want her son to date Sweeney, the mother of three played coy.
“That is none of my business. I just want what’s best for everybody,” she said. “I just want somebody that loves him unconditionally and he loves unconditionally, and they take care of each other and live happily ever after.”
Glen briefly dated Nina Dobrev in 2017 and TV host Renee Bargh the following year. He was in a long-term romance with model Gigi Paris from 2020 to 2023.
Love is not on the forefront of Glen’s mind Cyndy said — at least, for now.
“He’s too busy right now. But he’s a family man,” she said. “He wants a family and he wants his happily ever after. It’s just not right now.”
