Jessica Simpson Says Her Vocal Coach Told Her to Drink ‘Snake Sperm’

Jessica Simpson learned an unusual hack to help her vocal cords.

“They’re like, ‘What are you drinking?’” Simpson, 44, said in a Friday, March 28, Instagram video. “It’s, like, this Chinese herb thing and I’m, like, ‘I don’t know. My vocal coach told me to drink it.’”

She continued, “And they Googled the ingredients and snake sperm [was listed]. It’s, like, a honey. So, if you wanna good vocal, you gotta drink snake sperm!”

Simpson succinctly captioned her post, “🎤🐍🧪.”

Jessica Simpson Jokes She’s ‘Very Single’ After Eric Johnson Separation

Simpson recently released her first record in 15 years, an EP titled Nashville Canyon, Part 1.

“I sing because I’m happy, I sing because I’m free. His eyes are on the sparrow and I know He watches me,” Simpson wrote via Instagram earlier this month. “God told me I needed to feel the fear and do it anyway as I’m moving into my truth while embracing the beauty of uncertainty.”

She added, “#NashvilleCanyon is the result of learning to hear my heart again, free from industry expectations. It’s about surrendering, letting my voice be my main guide, and trusting the journey ahead. Always inviting God into the room where music creates itself, with a voice that communicates on a spiritual level of grace without fear and allowing the music to be my main voice.”

Jessica Simpson Teases ‘Soundtrack to My Soul’ Amid Eric Johnson Split

According to Simpson, Nashville Canyon, Part 1 “is a feeling.” She had written the record about her separation from husband Eric Johnson after a decade of marriage. (Simpson confirmed the pair’s split in January, stressing that they plan to coparent their three children.)

“I was out in Nashville and I had my heart wide open, I was in a very intuitive state and I had to ask some very personal questions on the home front,” Simpson recalled of writing Nashville Canyon during a March set at the Luck Reunion in Texas. “I found out that my world had been turned upside down and that life was very different. When we open our hearts, sometimes we’re vulnerable and it just gets broken.”

She concluded at the time, “Maybe sometimes we forget that we’ve been broken for a really long time, but when we meet ourselves, when we write, when we sing [and] when we connect with ourselves, we find all the answers.”

Despite Simpson proclaiming that she was “very single” during the concert, she remains on amicable terms with Johnson, 45. The Open Book author told People last month that Johnson is “still very much a part of [her] life.”
