Ben Affleck opened up for the first time about his divorce from Jennifer Lopez. In an interview with GQ, the actor spoke candidly about the end of his marriage and why he chose to participate in Lopez’s documentary The Greatest Love Story Never Told, confessing that the musician has “handled celebrity more adeptly” than him. “My temperament is to be a little bit more reserved and private than hers. As happens in relationships, you don’t always have the same attitude towards these things. … I love and support this person. I believe in them. They’re great. I want people to see that,” Affleck explained. He further insisted that there wasn’t “some major fracture” between him and Lopez before news broke of their split in August 2024. The couple, who were previously engaged in the early aughts, exchanged vows in July 2022. While speaking with GQ, Affleck emphasized that there was “no scandal, no soap opera, no intrigue” in the pair’s divorce, which was finalized earlier this year.
