Zeeko Zaki Jokes ‘FBI’ Train Hijack Ruins OA and Gemma’s ‘Honeymoon Phase’

Zeeko Zaki revealed OA and Gemma’s relationship will be pushed to its limits on this week’s episode of FBI on what was supposed to be a stress-free weekend away.

“It starts with me and Gemma, hopefully going on a lovely little vacation,” Zaki, who plays special agent Omar Adom “OA” Zidan, exclusively told Us Weekly. “It is, of course, abruptly ruined by terrorists as most of the days [are] that OA lives.”

Zaki, 35, explained that before mayhem ensues on the Tuesday, March 11, episode, OA and Gemma (Comfort Clinton) are in a “really good place” in their relationship.

The actor teased that the FBI writers keep it “vaguely” unknown as to what OA’s “intentions with this trip” are on a romantic front. However, Zaki explained, “We’re definitely still in the honeymoon phase of our relationship and it gets tested pretty early on.”

OA’s romance with Gemma was introduced during season 6 in 2024 but has only briefly been followed up on during season 7.

During “Hitched,” which airs on Tuesday, OA and Gemma vow to leave work at home in New York as OA whisks Gemma away to an unknown destination by train.

Despite his best efforts, Zaki told Us, their weekend plans go off the rails (perhaps literally) when masked men hijack the train. Without his service weapon, OA and Gemma have to get creative with how they hope to stop the hijackers’ plan while on board the moving vehicle.

“He definitely gets clicked into his military sort of, you know, work mindset to solve this problem,” Zaki said, noting that as the hijackers’ escalate their actions it puts pressure on OA and Gemma’s connection.

Zaki teased, “It becomes very personal, very emotional, very heavy,” adding, “It was a very intense sort of arc to play inside of one episode.”

The actor, however, shared that all the intense moments are part of a “little love story to action movies” and the movie and TV genre as a whole.

Zaki noted that there is even a “classic sort of movie moment” between OA and Gemma that he said, “Makes the end sort of so great.”

While Zaki played coy about OA and Gemma’s fate after the intense episode, he told Us, “We’ve earned another appearance from [Gemma]” after her performance.

When it comes to FBI’s other favorite couple Stuart Scola (John Boyd) and Nina Chase (Shantel VanSanten), Zaki said he’s just like Us and wants a crossover wedding.

“They do have a child together, so I think that’s kind of the natural way for that to go,” Zaki explained, referring to Scola and Nina’s son, Dougie. He added that he has “no idea” if fans will see a wedding “this season or not.”

Scola and Nina began dating during season 4 of FBI and their relationship has continued despite Nina’s move to FBI: Most Wanted in 2024. Their fate is up in the air after CBS announced earlier this month that FBI spinoffs Most Wanted and FBI: International will end after their current seasons.

Boyd, however, previously told Us that fans will see him “going over to Most Wanted” this season for another cameo. “It’s gonna be family stuff. I think it’s more of Nina’s family and me being there for that,” he said in January.

FBI airs on CBS Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET.
