Everthing she touches, or shows even the smallest amount of interest in, seems to turn to gold.
And now the Super Bowl is set to have a bigger UK audience than ever – thanks to the Taylor Swift effect.
Over half of British Swift fans – or ‘Swifties’ – plan on watching the highlight of the American football season tomorrow evening, in the hope of catching a glimpse of her in the crowd.
From our partners:
Some 13million Britons are expected to follow the battle between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers, according to streaming service NOW.
The 34-year-old pop star has generated £260million for the NFL since she started dating Chiefs player Travis Kelce last year.
Ms Swift attended her first Chiefs game in September, confirming rumours that the pair were in a relationship, and has been pitchside at 12 of the Chiefs’ 18 games this season.
However, it is not clear whether she will be cheering Kelce on tomorrow because of her busy schedule.
The singer will complete a four-day tour of Japan today. She would then have to make a 5,000-mile trip from stage to stadium to watch her beau play in the biggest American sporting event of the year.
Female viewership of the NFL has increased by 9 per cent since Ms Swift started attending games – giving the league its best numbers on record among women.
The Super Bowl will be shown in the UK on Sky Sports, ITV1 and online via ITVX, starting at 11.30pm. NOW will also stream the event for subscribers.
