The anime adaptation of Bryan Lee O’Malley’s hit graphic novels is streaming now.
Scott Pilgrim is taking on the world again in a new anime series coming to Netflix on Nov. 17… and you can treat your eyes and ears to a brand new trailer above.
Based on Bryan Lee O’Malley’s hit graphic novels, which were adapted into the 2010 live-action film Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off is bringing back Scott, Ramona Flowers, and all seven of her evil exes. And, as previously announced, the original film cast will reprise their roles.
From our partners:
Who’s in the cast of the Scott Pilgrim Takes Off anime series?
Taking a deep breath: Michael Cera returns as the 23-year-old bass player of Sex Bob-Omb, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Ramona, Kieran Culkin as Wallace Wells, Anna Kendrick as Stacey Pilgrim, Brie Larson as Envy Adams, Alison Pill as Kim Pine, Aubrey Plaza as Julie Powers, Johnny Simmons as young Neil, Mark Webber as Stephen Stills, Ellen Wong as Knives Chau, and Satya Bhabha, Chris Evans, Brandon Routh, Jason Schwartzman, and Mae Whitman as the Evil Exes. The series comes from anime house Science SARU and is written and executive produced by O’Malley and BenDavid Grabinski, with music by Anamanaguchi (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game) and Joseph Trapanese.
“They’ve all gone on to do incredible things, but to me, they’re family,” O’Malley told Tudum back in March. “There — to this day — is still a group email with the entire cast on it, that’s been going since 2010. I was happy to be able to reach out to everyone with the news that we had finally come up with a way to continue the adventure. Seeing (and hearing) everyone come back to their roles has been a true pleasure.”
What is Scott Pilgrim Takes Off about?
Although email chains might not be as popular as they were 13 years ago, Scott Pilgrim has continued to gain a loyal cult following since the comic’s inception in 2004. Scott Pilgrim Takes Off follows the title character as he falls in love with New Yorker Ramona Flowers. But in order to date her, he must defeat all seven of her evil exes. Then things get even more complicated.

Why is Scott Pilgrim Takes Off anime instead of live-action?
“I knew that a live-action sequel was unlikely, but I would usually defer by suggesting that perhaps an anime adaptation was an interesting way to go,” said Edgar Wright, who directed the live-action film, back in March. “And then, lo and behold, one day Netflix got in touch to ask about this exact idea. But even better, our brilliant creator Bryan Lee O’Malley had an idea that was way more adventurous than just a straight adaptation of the original books.”
Who’s on the Japanese voice cast of Scott Pilgrim Takes Off?
