Brentford start Bryan Mbeumo as they open their Premier League season against Tottenham today, but Ben Mee is absent with a minor injury.
In news that will please Fantasy Premier League players everywhere, Bees boss Thomas Frank said the Cameroon international had recovered from the dead leg he suffered in pre-season and is 100 per cent ready to go.
He also revealed that four other players are fit to face Spurs at the Gtech Community Stadium, and left-back Rico Henry also starts.
From our partners:
“Bryan is 100 per cent ready”, Frank told reporters Friday. “I don’t think it’s any surprise he will start on Sunday.”
Captain Christian Norgaard and midfielder Frank Onyeka had also both been nursing injuries, with the former starting today but the latter missing out after a late fitness test.
“Christian is ready to be involved in the team,” Frank said. “Frank will be assessed tomorrow.”
Frank also said that left-back Henry and Josh Dasilva were available to face Ange Postecoglou’s side, with Dasilva on the bench.
Mbeumo starts on the right of a front three, with Yoane Wissa through the centre. Kevin Schade is surprisingly only a substitute.
Frank, 49, believes the attacking trio can plug the gap in the absence of Ivan Toney until January due to the striker’s betting ban.
Brentford vs Tottenham prediction
Spurs’ new project may well turn out to be a prosperous one but Postecoglou could hardly ask for a more difficult welcome to the Premier League.
Brentford lack their main goalscorer but have the potential to be every bit as wily and technical as they’ve ever been.
Brentford to win, 2-1.
