Here are the 10 biggest revelations we learned:
01. Meghan had suicidal thoughts
Meghan revealed that she had gotten to a point where she “just didn’t want to be alive anymore.”
Meghan shared during her interview: “I just didn’t see a solution. I would sit up at night, and I was just like I don’t understand how all of this is being churned out and again I wasn’t seeing it, but it’s almost worse when you feel it through the expression of my mom or my friends or them calling me crying just like ‘Meg, they’re not protecting you.’
“And I realised that it was all happening just because I was breathing. And, I was really ashamed to say it at the time, and ashamed to have to admit it, to Harry especially, because I know how much loss he suffered.
“But I knew that if I didn’t say it that I would do it, and I just didn’t…I just didn’t want to be alive anymore.
“And that was a very clear and real and frightening constant thought.
“And I remember, I remember how he just cradled me and I was… I went to the institution, and I said that I needed to go somewhere to get help.”
She said that Harry had been with her and supported her throughout these challenging moments in their lives.
02. The Royal Family had ‘concerns over the skin colour of Meghan’s baby’
During her pregnancy with Archie, Meghan claimed that a member of the royal family raised “concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he’s born.”
Oprah enquired whether there was an issue with her child being “too brown” and if it was an issue. Meghan remarked: “If that is the assumption you are making, that is a pretty safe one.”
Harry and Megan declined to give details to whoever said those statements with Meghan adding, “I think that would be very damaging to them.”
03: Royal Family accused of racism
Harry expressed his disappointment and said that none of his relatives spoke out in support of Meghan after being a target of racist attacks by the media.
“No-one from my family ever said anything over those three years. That hurts,” Harry said.
04: Strained relationship between Prince Harry and his father, Prince Charles
Harry admitted that Prince Charles had stopped taking his calls when he and Meghan were in Canada and have announced their intention to leave the royal family. He said he felt let down by his father, “I feel really let down because he’s been through something similar, he knows what pain feels like, (and) Archie’s his grandson.
“But at the same time, I will always love him. But there’s a lot of hurt that’s happened and I will continue to make it one of my priorities to try and heal that relationship. But they only know what they know, or what they’re told.”
05: Prince William and Prince Harry are not on the best of terms right now
The rift between the two brother continues. Harry said, “The relationship is space at the moment. And time heals all things, hopefully.”
He added though that, “I love William to bits, he’s my brother, we’ve been through hell together, we have a shared experience, but we were on different paths.”
06: They did not blindside the Queen
Both Meghan and Harry showed great respect for the Queen. Harry denied that he had “blindsided” his grandmother with their decision to step down as senior royals.
The duke remarked, “No, I would never blindside my grandmother, I have too much respect for her.”
Harry said that the story probably came “from within the institution.” He also added that while they are in Canada he had “three conversations with my grandmother and two conversations with my father, before he stopped taking my calls.”
07: Kate, the Duchess Of Cambridge made Meghan cry
Meghan revealed that Kate made her cry ahead of her wedding at a bridesmaid fitting but the coverage reported the opposite.
Meghan said “everyone in the institution knew that wasn’t true” and she hoped Kate “would have wanted that to be corrected”, adding “she is a good person”.
She also pointed our the “polarity” in the media’s coverage of her and Kate.
“If you love her you don’t have to hate me,” she said.
08: The were stripped of security protection
Harry revealed that he “never thought” he would have his security detail removed upon deciding to step back from royal duties.
He said: “I was born into this position. I inherited the risk. So that was a shock to me.”
Harry said his family “literally cut me off financially” in the first quarter of 2020 and he went for the Netflix and Spotify deals to pay for his security.
He said he had what Diana left him and “without that we would not have been able to do this.”
