Château Cheval Blanc Unveils The Secrets Of Its Winemaking Process With The “Un Autre Cheval” Podcast

Mythical grand cru from Saint Emilion, Château Cheval Blanc surprises us with a new podcast available on all platforms, as from September 20, 2021. “Un Autre Cheval” is an immersion in 8 episodes that follow the artisan winemakers, who are attentive every day to the tiniest details, and thus produce a grand cru wine. This unique insight dives deep into the winemaking process throughout the seasons, appealing to both connoisseurs and amateurs.

The “Un Autre Cheval” (“Another Cheval”) podcast was designed by Château Cheval Blanc team. It aims to recount the real story of day-to-day work and winegrowing activities, and transmit a passion for wine. “Today, when people talk about Bordeaux and its great Châteaux there is hardly any reference to the wines themselves. Of course, we are the keepers of a legend that goes way beyond ourselves, but we were keen to show what motivates us: working with vines and the soil, the winemaking process as such, and the pleasure we take in working every day with this amazing terroir, which we try to bottle in the most authentic way possible. We also wanted to show our human side and desire to produce wines at Cheval Blanc that will continue to make wine lovers around the world dream for years on”, Pierre-Olivier Clouet said, Technical Director of Château Cheval Blanc.

The podcast covers the different steps of winemaking, month after month, year after year, in order to highlight the quality of such an atypical wine. From working on the soil at winter times, to the barrels, the harvest, the pruning of vines, the art of winemaking and on to the implementation of an ambitious farming program, the podcast followed the Château’s rhythm from July 2020 to July 2021. Several issues are addressed throughout the episodes: climate change, growing and grafting techniques, preservation of biodiversity. We listen to authentic accounts by “enthusiastic and involved artisans, who know that today’s choices will have repercussions on tomorrow’s glasses and soil”. They unveil the prestigious history of Château Cheval Blanc.

Audio media made more sense to truly convey the reality of our domain, the ambiance during harvest, and the peculiar atmosphere of the wine cellar. It also gave us more time to explain things properly. We have always invited people to the domain, so to explain the way we work firsthand. With the podcast, we can extend this invitation further!” Pierre-Olivier Clouet said. Both a documentary and a poetic story, Camille Juzeau wrote “Un Autre Cheval”. Samuel Hirsh acted as the producer and musical composer. The result is a HRCLS production. The podcast will be available on every platform from September 20, 2021.
